    3. Yes, Vanessa, I will pray for your tatay. It's good to know that it was caught early enough. I will dedicate my next run to him and pray the rosary for him. Your faith in prayer and your love for him will see your father through his healing.

    5. Please pray for guidance as I prepare for a career after raising my six kids as a single mom. They need me at home, but I need God to provide. Also pray for my physical health. I've had a tenacious foot injury and haven't been able to get back to running, myself. I know many of these needs are much bigger than mine, but I need to stay healthy...

      1. Eric will be in my thoughts and prayers. Having experienced a loss of a loved one from cancer, Eric's loss diminishes me; but it also reminds us, who he left behind, of how to fight our own fight in the same faith that he had. Please send my prayers to his family. My next prayer run will be for Eric. Thank you, too, for your for bringing him up to others, including myself, in prayer.

    9. Hello Joey, I just came across your FB post from last year's Nike Women's Marathon October 2011. This will be my first half marathon come Oct 14 for NWM in SF at 50 and running in honor of my first cousin Beatriz Marapao undergoing treatments for cervical cancer and also running in memory of my sister Lourdes who passed away of lymphoma and my cousin Yvette who passed away of leukemia.
Your story truly inspires me even more to run this race. Please pray for healing for my cousin Beatriz Marapao.

By the way, I am a volunteer for HMBIM this year, I will be at start/finish line the morning of the race bright and early at the packet pickup (if you haven't picked up your packet), maybe I will see and meet you there.

Thank you for all that you do Joey.

      Best,
      Terri

      1. Hi Terri,

Thank you for your beautiful message. By itself, it is a tribute to three honorable women of courage. And by your faith, I believe that you will bring healing to your cousin Beatriz. Just hearing your story of running for her inspires me even more to run and pray for her cause. You and I know that the "pain" of our running is insignificant to the challenge that she is going through right now fighting cancer. And what your sister Lourdes and other cousin Yvette went through. Please be rest assured that all of them and also you in my prayers every time I run, especially at HMBIM. I actually just got my bib over at the packet pick up at Sports Basement in Walnut Creek yesterday; but I will try my best to find you at the start of the race, if if doesn't get too hectic for the two of us at that time.

I will miss NWM this year since it's my son's 16th birthday on the actual date of the race, but I will try to remember and bid you a great run come that weekend. Meantime, keep me posted and hope and pray that your training's all going well. Be safe and God speed!

        Joey

P.S. Please let your cousin know that I've included her in my prayer list. Thank you and God bless!

      2. Hello Joey,

Thanks again for including my cousin Beatriz in your prayer list and thank you also for your well wishes for me this NWM race coming up.

I know you will achieve your goal: 50 runs by 50! Training is going well, SF hill training is done and we'll be working on 10-mile flatter course this weekend.

Last weekend at Half Moon Bay Int'l Marathon, it turned out they needed my help at bag drop booth. It worked out well, as our 14yr old son had a baseball game in HMB in the afternoon.

I'm sure you had a great race!

If I could also please make another prayer request for healing for one of my friends diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her name is Sally. She was supposed to run at HMBIM (half marathon), but she hasn't been feeling well and had to stop training. I have also added her to my pink ribbons of Honorees for my race, I've received a couple of names to add this last few days.

Thanks again Joey for all that you do for others. God Bless.

        Terri

      3. Hi Terry,

I'm sorry I didn't get to see you at HMB. But let me thank you personally for your volunteer presence during the race. It was a great experience once again for me. And you all made it such a meaningful run for all participants, including myself.

I wish you the best as you continue to train for NWM and from the looks of it, you are right on target. Please keep me posted.

I'd be honored to pray for your friend Sally. She reminds me of my wife's experience 6 years ago when she had difficulty running a 10k. A month later, she was diagnosed that her cancer had come back and metastasized. Please let Sally know that she has a special place in my prayers as she goes on her healing journey. Please keep me posted too about her condition whenever you can.

May God bless you in your running pilgrimage to honor your pink honorees. I am unable to run NWM this year because it is my son's 16 birthday, but I shall be with you in spirit and prayer.

Thank you so much and God speed!

        Joey

    10. I never thought I'd be asking for a prayer request for myself. On Monday, I was informed I had a vision threatening issue and rushed to surgery that day. I underwent major eye surgery and now revovering. I'm hopeful & ever grateful for those around me.

    11. Be rest assured of my prayers. May you find comfort and strength at this time. May God in his infinite mercy and compassion, see your faith as you lift up your need in prayer. You have been generous to others and now other people are present for you to support you. I am one with those around you to continue praying for your complete healing and recovery. Please keep me posted when you can. God speed!

    12. I am not sure if it is fortunate or unfortunate that I have had to visit your prayer request page so many times in the past few months.

If you will, please pray for Margie Walters and her safe journey home. She is 33 years old, a mother of 2 girls (6 & 8) and a newlywed of 5 months. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and fought through to remission. She passed away on Friday after its return. Please pray that God called her home for a reason, for her two young girls who may not understand and her new husband.

Thank you and thank you for being here when we need you.

      1. "For who the bell tolls, it tolls for thee." I am diminished by the news of the passing of your friend from breast cancer. It starkly reminds me of my wife's journey of her own struggle. But Margie's fight to the finish also inspires me to continue on to minister to others who need strength and comfort by praying for them, especially in times of need. Margie has "fought the good fight; she has completed the race." I am a relatively young widower myself (at 44), if Margie's husband need somebody to talk to, he can contact me. I am sure he is surrounded by very supportive family and friends like you; but just in case, please let him know - and here is my email at prayingrunner@gmail.com and my name is Joey. Please let him know the he and his family are in my prayers.

P.S. How are you recovering and healing from your eye surgery. I continue to pray for you.

(#FYI I do RT’s ‘anytime’ for all #Triathletes #Cyclists #UltraRunners #Marathoners #FitnessProfessionals who follow me on Twitter and have something important they want mentioned for support…)

All the very best for 2013 & beyond Jose. Look forward to hearing from you…

    15. Don't worry, I'm not selling anything! We run and pray to promote life and beat suicide, and we're praying this Saturday at 7am GMT. We pray and run together every month, and on World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September, 80 of us ran and prayed on the hour, every hour, for 24 hours. I have just discovered your blog and am heartened that you too are running and praying. God bless, Jacky
